Daily Calendar Brief

A two-day calendar brief that knows Friday's tomorrow is Monday.

A short weekday morning brief covering today and the next business day, with the meetings you must prepare for called out before anything else. Small, and deliberately so. It does one thing and prints nothing you did not ask for.

Built for: anyone running a meeting-heavy week who wants the next two working days visible at a glance.

What it does

  • Covers today and the next business day, skipping weekends, so on Friday it shows Friday and Monday.
  • Flags external and client meetings by attendee domain.
  • Reads your calendar colour coding: one colour marks meetings you must prepare for, another marks meetings you can skip.
  • Calls out every must-prepare meeting across both days before the chronological listing.
  • Notes when a day is unusually busy or back-loaded, or when it is empty.

Design decisions worth knowing

It gets externally booked meetings right

Calendly and similar tools often return an event whose timestamp carries one UTC offset while a sibling timezone label says something else entirely. Trusting the label shifts the meeting by hours. This brief treats the offset on the timestamp as authoritative and ignores the contradictory label, and it will not call a day late-running on the basis of a mis-converted time.

No holiday guessing

The next business day is always the next weekday, even if it happens to be a public holiday. A brief that quietly skipped a day it assumed you were off would be worse than one that showed you a day you were not working.

What you need

  • Claude, with a calendar connector (read access).
  • A calendar colour convention, if you want the prepare and skippable flags. Otherwise it lists everything normally.

Setting it up

  1. Unzip into your skills directory so the folder sits as daily-calendar-brief/.
  2. Fill the CONFIG block: account, timezone, your internal email domains, and the two colour IDs.
  3. Connect a calendar account and ask for your brief.

This is a Claude skill, not a hosted service

It runs in your own Claude account against your own calendar. MBS Infotech never sees your calendar and holds no access to it.
